Founder & Managing Partner

Victor Mendoza‍ ‍

Victor Mendoza founded Legado Capital Advisors in 2024 and brings more than 15 years of corporate and investment banking experience across the energy sector. Throughout his career, he has participated in, originated and structured more than $10 billion of energy transactions.

Prior to founding Legado, Victor served as Head of Structured Finance at Donovan Ventures, where he launched the firm's asset-backed securitization strategy in 2021 and advised on nearly $2 billion of ABS transactions. Previously, he was a Director at Société Générale focused on upstream transactions throughout the Americas, including the U.S., Canada and Latin America. As a key member of the firm's offshore financing buildout, he helped grow commitments to more than $2 billion in three years. Victor began his banking career with Amegy Bank's Energy Team.

Victor is an active voice in the energy and finance community and regularly speaks at industry events and conferences across the country, participating in panels and discussions on structured finance, capital markets and the evolving energy landscape. In August 2026, he was a featured speaker at the Houston Producers Forum alongside Jeff Nichols, Chair of the Energy Practice Group at Haynes Boone.

Victor earned his degree from Texas A&M University and was recognized as a Hart Energy Forty Under 40 honoree. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade Committee and on the Board of Subiaco Academy. He also serves on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association's 2027 Houston Heart Ball.

Robert Salazar

CFA Director, Capital Markets

Mr. Salazar has over 20 years experience in the securitization industry and oversees the capital markets and distribution effort for Legado Capital Advisors.  Prior to joining Legado, Mr. Salazar worked as a Director within Donovan Ventures structured credit group, focusing on Oil & Gas PDP ABS .  He also has spent 13 years working as an Institutional Salesperson developing strong relationships within the structured credit investor community with a focus on Insurance, Pension and Asset Manager clientele.  His work within Structured Products Sales and Trading includes 9 years with Guggenheim Securities, where he played an intricate role in building out the Esoteric Asset Backed Securities platform as well as working on both new issue distribution and secondary trading across all structured products.  Mr. Salazar also spent 4 years with Keybanc Capital Markets primarily focused on leading the ABS sales effort.  

Prior to his work on the sell side, Mr. Salazar spent several years on the structured products investment team at Pioneer Investments(now Amundi US) trading and investing in ABS, RMBS, CMBS and CDO bonds, as well as working on the structuring and modeling of new transactions for their CDO issuer platform. 

Mr. Salazar holds a B.S. in Finance from the University Of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and an M.B.A from DePaul University.  He has his CFA certification and is Series 7 and 63 licensed.

Bo Hughes

Managing Director

Mr. Hughes has 15 years of upstream oil and gas experience and leads subsurface analysis and technical valuation at Legado Capital Advisors. His diverse background spans upstream operations and development, asset evaluation, and underwriting, providing a technical perspective across the firm’s advisory and capital markets engagements.

Prior to joining Legado, Mr. Hughes held roles at Espada Energy Partners, Jefferies, Indigo Natural Resources, and SLB.

Mr. Hughes holds a degree from Texas A&M University.

Cray Jaeger

Director

Mr. Jaeger has over seven years of oil and gas investment banking experience and has advised on transactions totaling more than $10 billion. Prior to Legado Capital Advisors, he held roles at Donovan Ventures, KPMG, and Solomon Partners (formerly PJ Solomon), with experience spanning structured credit, energy and natural resources, and M&A.

His transaction experience includes IKAV’s acquisition of San Juan assets from BP, Canyon Midstream’s divestiture of certain midstream assets, and Third Coast Midstream’s sale of Eagle Ford gathering assets.

Mr. Jaeger holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and maintains Series 79, 63, and 82 licenses.
